About

The Publication

TEN TRILLION DECIBELS (10TDB) is a transmedia publication covering live music in photos, videos, words, and art. A diverse group of artists, writers, and live music advocates provide coverage from a deep inside perspective, with stunning visuals and powerfully constructed articles designed to inform, entertain, and inspire readers to experience more live music.

Each piece on 10TDB brings together multiple media types — photography, writing, video, illustration — not as decoration for each other, but as coordinated expressions that build a more complete picture of the live experience. Each medium stands on its own. Together, they reach something none of them could alone.

The Name

Ten trillion decibels is a meaningless number. No sound in the universe reaches it. But if you've been in the front row when the bass drops and you can feel the kick drum in your sternum, or in the back of a 200-person bar when the band locks in and the room forgets it's Wednesday — you know the feeling the name is reaching for. The volume in your memory is louder than any speaker can produce.

Contributors

10TDB is built by people who go to shows because they love going to shows, and who make things because they need to be made. We're photographers, writers, videographers, and artists working together to capture something that can't quite be captured.

We want you to go to more live shows. We want to show you live shows you missed. We want to see you at the next live show.
